President’s Final Address to the Congress

Mrs. Annetta A. Hamilton, President (2021-2024)

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Memphis Baptist Congress of Christian Education met at Gospel Temple Baptist Church. That Sunday marked the last Address Ms. Annetta A. Hamilton, the first woman to serve as President of the Congress in its 88-year history, would present before the Congress. This year, she concludes her 4-year term as President, which started in 2020 and saw her delivering her first Address to the Congress virtually due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Ms. Hamilton began by informing the audience of some essential facts about the Congress and how proud she was of its many accomplishments. She thanked Congress for all of its support and service. They honestly responded with friendliness and love at every suggestion and “asked.” Her topic was “Jesus, My Best, My Truest Friend,” and her scripture was from John 15:13. She mentioned that the first song she learned as a child was “Jesus Loves Me,” and as she matured throughout her pre-teen years to a young lady, she knew “Jesus Loves Even Me, and then “Jesus Is All The World To Me.” These songs reflected her love for Jesus, as well as how these songs connected Jesus’ love for her (Her Best Friend). She also demonstrated a strong bond with her friends and fellow worshippers. One of her most powerful points was when she delivered an impassioned message from the Bible scriptures about who Jesus is. The atmosphere in the church was electric, charged with an undeniable energy. Suddenly, the congregation erupts into an enthusiastic “Amens!” chorus that echoes off the walls. Each cheer felt like an explosion of faith and joy that lingered long after the last echo faded. It was a moment where hope, gratitude, and excitement united, leaving Mrs. Reed, 1st President, to move that Ms. Hamilton’s Address speech be placed in the Congress archives.

Thank you, Ms. Hamilton, for your outstanding lifelong service. Your dedication has inspired many. As you move forward, may your life be surrounded by God’s love and attain happiness and success in your future endeavors.
